Invoicing and Payments

International payments

With Mallow, you can accept payments from customers worldwide, provided they use an internationally-enabled credit or debit card.

Payment Method Compatibility

  • Credit & Debit Cards: Most major cards are enabled for international use. If a transaction fails, it is usually because the customer’s bank has a block on international spending, which the customer can resolve by contacting them.

  • Bank Transfers (ACH & EFT): These networks are region-specific. ACH (United States) and EFT (Canada) cannot process cross-border payments.

    • Example: A US-based merchant cannot accept an ACH transfer from a customer’s bank account in the UK or Canada.

    • If you are invoicing a client located in a different country, we recommend selecting "Card" as the only available payment method to ensure a smooth checkout experience.

Important Considerations

  • Interchange Fees: While Mallow does not charge any extra fees for international transactions, you may incur higher Interchange rates due to "Cross-border" fees set by the card networks. Learn more about Interchange.

  • Currency Conversion: Payments are processed and deposited in your primary account currency. The customer’s bank handles the conversion from their local currency at the time of the sale.
